Pester is a persistent reminder app that refuses to let you forget. Unlike quiet notification apps that ping you once and give up, Pester keeps nagging — firing the same reminder every few minutes until you mark it done or snooze it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "persistent" mean?
Pester uses auto-snooze. When a reminder fires, if you don't mark it done or snooze it, Pester will fire it again in 1, 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes — your choice per reminder. It keeps firing until you act.

How do I create a reminder quickly?
Type something like "Call mom in 30 minutes" or "Take out trash tomorrow at 8pm" and Pester parses it automatically. You can also tap a quick-time button (Morning, Noon, Evening, +1 hour) to skip the time picker entirely.

Can I act on reminders without opening the app?
Yes. Long-press a Pester notification (on the Lock Screen or in your notification tray) to snooze (10 min, 1 hr, 3 hr, or tomorrow) or mark done. The action runs without launching the app.

How do repeating reminders work?
When creating a reminder, pick daily, weekdays, weekends, specific days of the week, or monthly. The reminder re-schedules itself automatically after you mark it done.

Do my reminders survive a reboot?
Yes. Pester reschedules all your pending reminders when your device restarts.

Do I need an account?
No. Pester works the instant you install it. There is no sign-in, no cloud sync, and no account to manage. All your reminders live on your device.

How do I back up or transfer my reminders?
Go to Settings → Backup. You can export a file through your device's share sheet — save it to iCloud Drive, Files, Google Drive, Dropbox, email, or any app you prefer. To restore, import the file on a new device.

How do I change the alert sound?
Go to Settings → Sound. Pick from 4 bundled sounds or use your system default notification sound. You can preview each one by tapping the play button.

How do I switch between light and dark mode?
Go to Settings → Appearance and pick System, Dark, or Light.

Can I customize the snooze and quick-time options?
Yes. In Settings you can adjust the auto-snooze intervals and change the quick-time buttons shown on the create screen.

Troubleshooting

• Not receiving notifications: Open your device's Settings app, find Pester, and make sure notifications are allowed for Lock Screen and banner alerts. On iOS, also check that Focus modes (Do Not Disturb, Sleep, etc.) aren't silencing Pester. On Android, make sure battery optimization is disabled for Pester so the system doesn't delay alarms.
• Reminder fires only once and stops: Check that auto-snooze is enabled for that reminder. Edit the reminder and verify the snooze interval is set.
• Natural language isn't parsing my input: Try adding an explicit time word ("in 30 minutes", "tomorrow at 8pm", "at 2:30"). If parsing still fails, use the time picker.
• Notification sound plays at the wrong volume: Notification volume follows your device's ringer or notification volume — adjust it with the side buttons while no media is playing, or in your system sound settings.
• Import failed: Make sure you're importing a file exported from Pester (it's a JSON file). Files from other reminder apps won't work.
